OMG this is so great! I definitely think games with female protagonists should be treated as normal games and not Feminist Games. This reminds me of the hullaballoo around The Last of Us 2, which stars two women, one being a lesbian and one being pretty buff (and not conventionally thin and "sexy"). All the sweaty gamer boys were criticizing it to death because they thought it was feminist BS, or LGBTQ+ propaganda, or for liberals or whatever. But like.......both female main characters were there because they were crucial to the story and fully fleshed out and enriching to the plot. Just as any male video game character would be. It's really dumb. Like, gay people existing isn't propaganda or political.

Speaking of gay people, I also totally thought The Prom was bad all along. It really rubbed me the wrong way how all of the STRONGLY homophobic kids at the school just suddenly became pro gay, smiling and pumping their fists and dancing with all the gay kids. Like it just felt so inauthentic and shallow. There was no nuance or realism to the homophobia issue in that movie, which is important since the movie is trying to be serious LGBTQ+ representation. So yeah, it's super alienating and shallow.

really cool post!
